Australasia's home for timber news and information

Conference delegates will “have a ball”

LAST WEEKEND’S AFL grand final draw has thrown up some hurdles for many people and organisations, however, this weekend’s replay will be an added bonus for members of Tasmania’s TCA.
The group’s State conference is on this Saturday and now the replay will be a part of the function.
“The plan is to now commence the conference at 9:30 on Saturday morning, continue through to 2pm then move to the adjacent room for lunch and settle in to a private viewing of the grand final on the big screen the Tram Shed is providing for us,” says Barry Chipman, Tasmanian State manager TCA.
Bob Gordon (general manager Forestry Tasmania) will be keynote speaker. He willpresent a Forestry Tasmania overview of the present and what the future may hold for timber families and their communities. This will be followed by ample time for questions and discussion.
Other speakers will include John Hollis (divisional manager Oakdale Industries). “John is a lifelong participant of our industry and will provide an insight into the very important social welfare achievements being made by Oakdale and how Tassie natural timbers are assisting these achievements,” Barry said.
“Also, Glen Huon country sawmiller Ricky Watson will share a short overview of the ongoing value-adding journey his family is undertaking in helping to meet the common goal held by Tassie sawmilling families of gaining the maximum value from our natural forests.
“Several of our branches will also provide reports into projects they have been involved with,” he said.
