Clarence Valley timber history

If you know anyone involved with the Clarence Valley timber industry in years gone by, Glenn Reid wants to hear from you. Source: Daily Examiner

Until Saturday afternoon, a photographic history of the north coast timber industry will be on display as part of the Jacaranda Woodwork Exhibition at the South Grafton Ex-Servicemen’s Club.

Many of the photos have come from the extensive family collection of Mr Reid, whose greatgreat- grandfather Joseph Reid established, among others, the Moleton Mill west of Glenreagh in 1925.

He has piles of albums filled with historic images, but the people in them remain, for the most part, unnamed. Northern Rivers Woodworkers Association member Ron Smythe said Mr Reid would be at the exhibition until it finished on Saturday, and was happy to talk to anyone who could identify people in the old photos.

There is plenty to look at at this year’s exhibition, which has taken over the upstairs section of the services club.
