Rod McInnes CEO, Timber Queensland said all activity undertaken by DTM Timber, the company managing the harvest, met the Native Forest Practice Code.

“Andrew Powell, the Minister for Natural Resources and Mines has been advised the operation has a clean bill of health and is in accordance with the Code,” said McInnes.

“All contractors working on the site were trained koala spotters and if they saw any, logging would have ceased immediately,” he said.

Timber Queensland said the State’s growing population needs more local timber and private native forest resources are helping to meet the forecast demand.

“Harvesting private native forests for high value timber products in a sustainable way is a smart way of providing low carbon footprint building materials and preserving forest biodiversity,’ he said.
