Bombala mill on schedule for November

Tasco, owners of a major timber mill development at Bombala in south east New South Wales, said construction was on track to begin processing logs in November 2012. Sources: ABC News, ABC South East NSW

The mill expansion will cost nearly $70m, maintain 85 existing jobs and support another 140 indirect positions in the regional economy.

Tasco’s managing-director, Bart Crawley, said that construction was now running smoothly despite a number of delays.

“It’s all very positive,” he said. “Everything is really starting to come up out of the ground.

“Up until now it’s all been earthworks. But we’re now starting to see building and machinery installed so the community finally believes it’s going to happen.”

Work commenced at the site in August last year with construction now underway.

The project had been on the drawing board for 15 years.
