Bioenergy Business Breakfast

Hear from DPI secretary Richard Bolt about the Federal Government’s Australian Centre for Renewable Energy in his role as a board member; international guest speaker David Atkins, and participate in a facilitated discussion by Rob Gell.
Dave Atkins, from USDA Forest Service, will discuss his experience as Manager for the Fuels for Schools and Beyond Program. The program is utilising wood thinnings; and mill and urban wood residues to fuel biomass boilers in schools, universities, hospitals and other public institutions. More than 16 projects, replacing fossil fuel systems, have been commissioned since 2003.
After breakfast, Rob Gell will facilitate an open forum on opportunities for deployment in Victoria. This will include short presentations from:
• Dave Atkins, USDA Forest Service and manager of the Fuels for Schools and Beyond program
• Julian Turecek, Investment Manager – Cleantech Ventures
• A representative from Visy on their fluidised bed biomass boiler project
