Organisers of the Australian Timber Design Awards are hoping for record number of entries this year.

The competition has been honouring excellence in timber design for 13 years and is open to architects, builders, designers, engineers, interior designers and landscape architects.

Categories cover all major applications, small budget projects, sustainability, a Peopleʼs Choice Award and a Rising Star Award.

A new lead sponsor and a two-stage judging process are features of the 2012 New Zealand Timber Design Awards, with entries closing 22 June 2012.

New Zealand-owned paint manufacturer Resene is sponsoring the awards run by the NZ Wood marketing campaign.

Resene marketing manager Karen Warman says the company is especially pleased that this yearʼs awards include a Canterbury Rebuild category to highlight the significance of that effort.

First stage entries close on Friday 22 June with entry forms available from www.nzwood.co.nz.
