Australian Forestry Certification Scheme (AFCS) – Stakeholders dialogue forum

Australian Forestry Standard Limited are inviting stakeholders in the Ausralian Forestry Certification Scheme to attend a free forum being held Wednesday 16 September at the Hyatt Hotel, Yarralumla, ACT.

The AFCS Australian Forestry Standard AS 4708 has been used to certify over 8.7m ha (77%) of native forests and plantations across Australia. The AFCS has the ONLY wood products Chain of Custody Certification process that is an Australian
Standard AS 4707.

Consumers are becoming better informed and more concerned about the environmental source of the goods they buy. The environmental impact of materials depends on a range of factors, including how they are initially produced, processed, manufactured, transported and transformed.

Companies who manufacture or sell wood or paper based products are increasingly required to demonstrate their corporate social and environmental responsibility commitments to consumers, by developing a credible wood procurement policy.

All stakeholders of AFCS are invited, including:

– Users and potential users

  • – Procurement professionals from government and business
  • – Producers, processors, manufacturers, resellers
  • – Certification bodies
  • – Consultants
  • – NGO’s and other interested parties
  • Australian Forestry Standard Limited would like to ensure that the forum represents diverse yet balanced interests.

It would greatly benefit the outcomes of the forum if you would personally consider joining this important process.

    RSVP by 15th September 2009

  • Refreshments will be served. This is a complimentary forum with no charge.
