Australasia's home for timber news and information

AusForest Australian App for forestry

Apps, or applications for iphones and other mobile devices are common, what’s not common are apps for the forest industry but Dr Mihai Daian has developed one for Australia. Source: Timberbiz

Daian is a wood technologist with a penchant for other technologies as well such as developing websites and mobile apps.

His AusForest App is the first mobile app that aims to connect forest industry people to latest industry information.

At this stage the app is in its development phase and includes sections for contacts, funding opportunities, videos, links, reports and more. However, this is just a beginning and Daian is looking for responses from the industry, which will help him develop it into an app that is tailored to the industry’s needs.

The AusForest App users community is free to join and does not belong to any one association or interest group so the information is not biased towards any one area.

With input from the industry as to what should be included Daian hopes it will satisfy the need for mobile industry information.

Your input is sought in order to enable Daian to move to the next step in developing the free app and there is a section on the app for comments.

A more detailed story on the app will be in a future issue of Timberman magazine but for the meantime visit http://www.ausforestapp.com/AusForestApp/Welcome.html and download the app to your mobile device and then comment in the relevant section.
