A chip off the old block

Less than a year ago, Folkhem launched the first homes in the Cederhusen project in Sweden, which will be Stockholm’s first inner city block in solid wood. Source: Timberbiz

There has been great interest in the project with more than 70% of the 111 homes released for sale already sold.

Construction of the first house in the neighbourhood has been underway since October and the wooden frame for all floors has been erected.

Now it’s time for the next step in the project and as a result of the strong sales, Folkhem now has started construction on the second house.

Folkhem, which is partly owned by Nordr and Rikshem, only builds houses in wood and has a project portfolio with over 10 property projects that are to be built in various building systems made entirely of wood.

The cedar houses are a symbol that we can actually build the cities of the future by using wood, the only renewable building material.

The cedar houses are built with cross-glued wood frames from Setra’s new factory in Långshyttan, about two hours by truck from the place where the houses are built.
