Skill according to the dictionary, is the ability, coming from one’s knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc to do something well. However, it’s how and when you get the chance to hone those traits that makes a world of difference. Source: Timberbiz

That leads to one of the latest “enticers” for the future workforce, Try a Skill, a series of events held around Australia organised by World Skills (which is a global careers awareness program).

One was held recently in Burnie, Tasmania, and from a forestry perspective it was somewhat of a hit.

“Student interest in what forestry has to offer was inquisitive to start but certainly during our presentation that curiosity quickly turned into further questions on pathways and further education options for entry into our Industry,” said Col McCulloch, Project Manager, Arbre Forest Industries Training and Careers Hub.
